Scope and information we handle
This policy applies to The Quest: Prepare and Survive at www.thequestprep.com and supported customer applications. Depending on how you use The Quest, we may handle:
- Account and security data: email address, email-verification status, password hash and salt, session and access records, entitlements, and security events. We do not store your password in readable form.
- Preparedness data: household profiles, Plan settings, goals, inventory, storage locations, readiness, assessments, Quest progress, and preferences. The customer application is offline-first, and much of this information is stored on your device or in your browser. Limited account, entitlement, content-sync, and application metadata may be stored on our systems.
- Store and order data: cart contents, products and variants, quantities, email, shipping name and address, optional phone number, shipping quote, tax, order, fulfillment, payment-reference, refund, dispute, and tracking information.
- Messages and preferences: verification, password-reset, order, support, privacy-request, and other transactional communications, plus marketing communication preferences if marketing is offered.
- Connected social accounts: when this capability is offered and you choose to connect Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or another supported service, provider identity, account or page identifiers, granted authorization scopes, OAuth access or refresh tokens and expiration information, publishing permissions and records, provider content identifiers, and available performance analytics. We do not receive your social-platform password.
- Technical information: browser/device and request information, cookie or local-storage identifiers, security and rate-limit records, and aggregate tracked-link activity. A network address may be used transiently to create a one-way rate-limit identifier.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure accounts; determine access; operate the customer app, content delivery, Store, checkout, orders, fulfillment, support, and transactional messages; remember local state; maintain integrity and prevent abuse; fulfill owner-authorized social publishing; measure aggregate link or content activity; meet legal obligations; and improve The Quest.
Cookies and local storage
We use necessary secure HTTP-only cookies for customer sessions and guest carts. The application uses browser local storage, session storage, or device storage for offline-first profiles, Plan, inventory, progress, settings, content caches, and screen-lock state. Clearing browser data, resetting the app, or uninstalling it may remove local information. We do not use third-party advertising cookies in the customer application.
Payments, fulfillment, and service providers
Stripe hosts payment entry and processes payments and tax-related information. The Quest does not store raw payment-card numbers or card security codes. Printify may receive order and delivery information for products it fulfills. Cloudflare provides hosting, security, database, object-storage, and transactional-email infrastructure. Social platforms process data under their own terms when you connect them. These providers may process information where they operate and use it according to their agreements and privacy terms.
Social connections and analytics
Connected-account tokens are encrypted, with encryption-key material kept separately from the encrypted records. Connections remain owner-controlled and may be disconnected; you may also revoke access in the provider. Facebook Group publishing remains a manual workflow. First-party tracked links use opaque identifiers and store aggregate daily click counts rather than placing personal data in the URL.
Sharing and third-party links
We disclose information to service providers as needed for the functions above, at your direction, to protect The Quest and its users, in a business transaction, or when required by law. Third-party links, including Amazon affiliate links, lead to services governed by their own policies. On the public Books page, cover images may be requested directly from Open Library or Google Books; those providers receive the ISBN in the request URL and ordinary browser/network request information. The Quest does not send account details or information entered by visitors with these cover requests. Provider terms and privacy policies apply. Rights holders may contact Info@thequestprep.com to report a cover correction or request removal. The Quest may earn from qualifying Amazon purchases, as explained in the Affiliate Disclosure.
Retention and deletion
Retention varies by the type of information, where it is stored, operational needs, legal obligations, security, disputes, and backups. Authenticated customers can initiate account deletion in Account & Security. Ordinary account access is disabled immediately, the request can be cancelled for seven days, and eligible server account data is then permanently deleted. Local information remains until you clear app or browser storage, reset or uninstall the application, or delete applicable backups. Some transaction, security, consent, sanitized deletion-audit, and legal records may need to be retained after a request. Disconnecting a social account stops future authorized access but may not delete content already published on that platform.
Your choices and rights
You may update available account information, disconnect supported social connections, manage local data, and ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict applicable personal information. Rights vary by location. We may verify your identity and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law.
Security
We use measures such as hashed passwords, secure cookies, encryption for sensitive connection tokens, authorization controls, and environment isolation. No system or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
The Quest is intended for household use under appropriate adult supervision and is not directed to children for independent account creation. Parents and guardians should supervise young people using Quests or activities.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
